The machine's semi-automatic feature allows for easy operation by selecting the desired thickness on the dial and sliding the carriage back and forth by hand while holding the meat with the arm with sharp pokies. Some customers have experienced issues with meat slices flinging across the room or getting stuck under the blade while slicing, but KWS recommends adjusting the slice guard closer to the blade and slightly freezing the meat to avoid this problem. Customers have praised the machine for being quiet, easy to clean, sturdy, and great for home use. They have used it for cutting roasts, deli, vegetables, potatoes, and various cheeses. The machine remains sharp even after several years of use, and the built-in sharpener attachment keeps the blade sharp. However, the machine is limited to slicing food with dimensions up to 5.5" (W) x 4.5" (H), and for heavier meats such as 10-12lb, 12" long Prosciutto boneless ham, KWS recommends using the KWS MS-10 or MS-12 meat slicer instead.
