Nutritionist's Take
The NOW Foods Magnesium Citrate supplement combines magnesium with glycinate and malate, offering various nutritional benefits. Magnesium is crucial for nerve function, muscle health, and energy production, making this supplement potentially beneficial for those with magnesium deficiencies. The citrate form enhances bioavailability, improving absorption compared to other forms. Nutritionists often appreciate the inclusion of both glycinate and malate, as they may support better nervous system function and energy levels. However, potential drawbacks include gastrointestinal discomfort in sensitive individuals, as magnesium citrate can have a laxative effect. Additionally, consumers should be cautious about over-supplementing, especially if consuming other magnesium-rich foods. Overall, this product may be a suitable option for those with specific dietary needs, such as vegetarians or individuals seeking to address magnesium deficiency, but should be taken with consideration of individual tolerance and health conditions.
