Fantasy Editorial Review
**** "Time Killers" is a compelling anthology that showcases the early works of Kazue Kato, the celebrated creator of the "Blue Exorcist" series. This collection is a must-read for fans, as it not only illustrates Kato's journey as an artist but also serves as a delightful retrospective of her storytelling evolution. Readers can witness a substantial progression in Kato's art style, from the simpler illustrations of her first work, "Boku to Usagi: Me and the Rabbit," to the polished visuals seen in the later stories, notably "The Miyama-Uguisu Mansion Incident." These changes reflect her growth as an artist and storyteller, ultimately culminating in the style that fans recognize in "Blue Exorcist." The book contains ten diverse short stories, each offering unique themes and narrative styles that range from light-hearted to thought-provoking. Some stories are grounded in reality, while others delve into magical and fantastical realms. Notably, many characters in these stories may feel like forerunners to those found in "Blue Exorcist," making this collection particularly interesting for devoted followers of Kato's work. In addition to the quality of the stories, the physical aspect of the book has garnered praise. Readers have highlighted the high-quality printing and the surprise inclusion of a mini poster featuring characters from the stories. With varied story lengths and emotional depth, "Time Killers" promises an engaging reading experience. While the beginner's aspect is evident, the charm and creativity in these narratives create an enjoyable collection that can evoke a range of emotions. Overall, "Time Killers" stands out as a valuable addition to any manga lover's library, especially for those who admire Kazue Kato's artistic journey and storytelling. **
