POWERMASTER Starters Editorial Review
The Powermaster 9406 Natural Ultratorque Starter has garnered a favorable reputation among users, particularly for its high torque capabilities which are essential for starting engines that have been dormant for extended periods. Many customers, such as the reviewer who installed it on a 1970 Ford F250, have praised its efficiency in cranking engines faster while putting less strain on the battery. This efficiency has proven invaluable for revitalizing older vehicles, making the starting process smoother and quicker. The design of the starter is also highlighted, particularly its "fully clockable" feature which allows for better fitting, especially in tight spaces like those encountered with headers on classic trucks. This ability to adapt to different configurations is a significant selling point and makes installations much less cumbersome compared to stock starters, which can be problematic in certain setups. However, Prospective buyers should take caution regarding compatibility, as the Powermaster 9406 is not suitable for early FE engines (specifically those from 1958 to 1964) with a 153 tooth flywheel, as it can cause significant damage if used improperly. The review suggests that while it might be an expensive investment, its performance justifies the cost for the right application. In summary, the Powermaster 9406 is positioned as a powerful and efficient starter that excels in performance for specific applications, albeit with certain compatibility issues that users need to be aware of. **
