The Ames Companies, Inc 2036700 True Temper Replacement Single Bit Axe Handle, 36-Inch The Ames Companies, Inc 2036700 True Temper Replacement Single Bit Axe Handle is a hickory handle that fits most axe heads. It has a good shape and finish, making it visually appealing. The handle is of very good quality and requires minimal trimming to achieve an exact fit. However, some users have found that the handle is a little thick, which may be uncomfortable for those with smaller hands or when wearing gloves. One drawback is that the handle comes with a coating of varnish, which is not specified in the product description. Some users recommend removing the varnish and using linseed oil instead, as the original coating does not hold up well to weather conditions. Another issue reported by customers is that the wooden wedge provided with the handle is of poor quality and may arrive broken. This can be frustrating for those looking to replace just the handle and not the entire axe set. Overall, the Ames Companies, Inc 2036700 True Temper Replacement Single Bit Axe Handle is a decent option for those in need of a replacement handle. It may require some adjustments and maintenance, but it is sturdy and offers a good fit.
