This header set comes in rectangular connector shells with individual female connectors inside designed to receive mating square header pins. The solder tabs on these headers are intended to be soldered to a PCB for PCB to PCB connections, they are not suitable for individual wire connections. The package comes with a variety of male, female, short, long connectors, including a few 1x4 female headers. The assortment is good, and the kit has a lot of different configurations that will fit most of your needs. However, the downside is that the pins do not line up well when trying to combine two different sizes and the plastic housings can be brittle, so separating pins does not work well.
