What is the Presidium Duo Tester PDT-S7 used for?

The Presidium Duo Tester PDT-S7 is designed to test and distinguish between diamonds and various gemstones. This tester uses advanced technology to measure thermal conductivity, allowing users to accurately identify genuine diamonds and other gemstones like moissanite. By incorporating a dual-purpose feature, it serves both jewelers and collectors alike, ensuring confidence in gemstone authenticity during purchasing or appraisal.

How do I operate the Presidium Duo Tester?

Operating the Presidium Duo Tester is straightforward. Simply turn on the device, select the mode for diamonds or gemstones, and allow it to warm up. After a brief wait, place the stone onto the probe tip. The tester will then display a reading indicating whether the stone is a diamond or another type of gemstone. This ease of use makes it perfect for both experienced jewelers and hobbyists looking to verify their gems quickly.

What types of gemstones can the PDT-S7 test?

The PDT-S7 is versatile and can test a range of gemstones, including diamonds, moissanite, and other simulants. The inclusion of a dual-testing mode allows it to differentiate based on thermal properties, making it particularly effective for accurately discerning genuine diamonds from imitations. This diversity is ideal for jewellers who frequently handle various types of gemstones in their collections.

Is the Presidium Duo Tester portable?

Yes, the Presidium Duo Tester is compact and lightweight, making it highly portable. Its design allows it to be easily carried in a bag or pocket, making it an ideal tool for jewelers who travel frequently for trade shows, appraisals, or exhibitions. The ease of portability ensures that you can always have a reliable testing solution at hand whenever needed.

How long does it take for the tester to give accurate readings?

The Presidium Duo Tester typically requires about 30 seconds to warm up before accurate testing can commence. Once warmed up, placing the gemstone on the probe will yield results almost instantly. This quick response time means you can efficiently test multiple stones with minimal interruption, making it perfect for jewelers handling large volumes of inventory.

Does the PDT-S7 come with a user manual?

Yes, the Presidium Duo Tester PDT-S7 comes with a comprehensive user manual that provides detailed instructions on operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance. This guide is essential for ensuring that users get the most out of their tester, especially for those new to gemstone testing or looking to deepen their expertise.

Can the Tester be recalibrated?

Yes, the PDT-S7 can be recalibrated to ensure precise measurements. It is equipped with easy-to-follow calibration procedures outlined in the user manual. Regular calibration is recommended, especially after extensive use, to maintain accuracy. This ensures that your assessments remain trustworthy over time, providing assurance to customers or during personal collections.

What kind of battery does the PDT-S7 use?

The Presidium Duo Tester PDT-S7 operates on a standard 9V battery, which is readily available in most stores. This design allows for convenient replacements and easy maintenance. Keeping a spare battery helps ensure that the tester remains operational for those urgent testing needs, whether in a professional setting or when dealing with personal gemstone collections.

Can I use this tester for both natural and synthetic diamonds?

Absolutely! The Presidium Duo Tester PDT-S7 is capable of testing both natural and synthetic diamonds, thanks to its advanced thermal conductivity technology.
