Nutritionist's Take
Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate (SCI) Powder is primarily recognized for its role as a surfactant in personal care products rather than a nutritional supplement. While it is derived from coconut oil, leading to some perceptions of being more 'natural', it is not directly beneficial for nutrition or health in the dietary sense. SCI is often deemed gentle on the skin and effective for cleansing, making it suitable for sensitive skin types. However, there are concerns regarding its use in cosmetic products that may lead to skin irritation in some individuals. Nutritionists highlight that while it provides certain benefits when used topically, it does not contribute to dietary needs or overall nutrition. Therefore, it's crucial for consumers to differentiate between skincare benefits and nutritional value, ensuring they maintain a balanced diet rather than relying on non-nutritional substances like SCI.
