Night Owl Home Security Systems CAM-FWIP2-IN-PARENT Editorial Review
The Night Owl Indoor Plug-in Wireless 1080p Deterrence Camera is a compact security solution that offers versatility and clarity, although it comes with a set of challenges during setup. This product is designed to integrate seamlessly into existing Night Owl security systems, providing a reliable option for monitoring indoor spaces. The installation process, however, can be cumbersome. While some users found the initial setup straightforward with their existing systems, others experienced significant challenges. Many reported difficulties connecting the camera to WiFi and integrating it with the DVR, often encountering repeated error messages and required resets. This has led to frustration, particularly for those who expect a plug-and-play experience. A common theme among reviews is the non-intuitive nature of the app, which is supposedly meant to guide users through the setup process. Despite the available QR code for more detailed instructions, it seems the app's performance and connectivity issues continue to hinder a smooth installation experience. Once operational, users generally praise the camera's features, such as its compact size, light weight, and the flexibility it offers for placement. It is powered by a USB adapter, which adds to its convenience in different settings. The free service offered via the Night Owl app allows users to monitor the camera feed from anywhere, and the capability to save footage on a microSD card up to 128GB is appreciated. Users have noted the effectiveness of motion capture and the ability to save live screenshots, highlighting its practical uses for indoor surveillance. Nonetheless, certain limitations are acknowledged. The camera does not support night vision, though this was not a significant drawback for all users as it is explicitly not advertised as such. Additionally, there are concerns about the app's buggy behavior and the lack of a USB-C jack, which is becoming a standard in many devices. Overall, the Night Owl Indoor Plug-in Wireless 1080p Deterrence Camera presents a compelling option for those looking to enhance their home security with wireless capabilities. While the setup experience may detract from its overall appeal, the strengths of the product make it worth Considering, especially in pairs for comprehensive room coverage. **
