**Editorial Review of "Bonded in Death" (In Death, 60)** "Bonded in Death," the latest installment in J.D. Robb's long-running In Death series, has been met with overwhelming enthusiasm from dedicated fans. This 60th entry provides a rich exploration of character backstories, notably that of Summerset, a pivotal figure in the series. Readers are treated to a gripping narrative that intertwines his tragic yet inspiring past with the present, as he and familiar characters, including Eve and Roarke, unite to confront a malevolent threat that spans decades. Critics laud the book for its emotional depth, exceptional character development, and well-crafted plot. It resonates deeply, with many readers feeling a strong connection to the characters as they uncover layers of Summerset's history, particularly concerning the Urban wars referenced throughout the series. This focus on historical context adds a significant dimension, making the story more engaging and satisfying. While some reviews mention a desire for more light-hearted interactions typical of earlier books—citing a lack of the humor and banter often enjoyed by long-time readers—the compelling elements of suspense and action are still present. The writing's pace is deftly maintained, keeping readers on the edge of their seats while also delivering poignant moments of reflection and camaraderie among characters. Overall, "Bonded in Death" has achieved the delicate balance of honoring its legacy while providing fresh content that captivates its audience. Fans of the In Death series are likely to find it a must-read, celebrating both the familiar and the newly revealed aspects of beloved characters. **
