Nutritionist's Take
Vegetable Glycerine (VG) and Propylene Glycol (PG) are commonly used as humectants and solvents in various food and cosmetic products. VG is a plant-derived, sugar alcohol known for its moisturizing properties, making it favorable in skincare and vape products. It may offer some health benefits due to its low-caloric sweetness and potential for supporting hydration. PG, however, is synthetic and has raised some health concerns regarding its long-term safety and potential for irritation in sensitive individuals. Nutritionally, both substances are low in calories but do not provide significant vitamins or minerals. While generally regarded as safe in moderate amounts, excessive consumption may cause digestive discomfort. Additionally, VGPG blends may not suit all dietary preferences, particularly for strict vegans or those avoiding artificial additives. Overall, while it can be a useful ingredient, consumers should be cautious and consider personal dietary needs and health claims critically.
