Thule Rooftop Racks 854 Editorial Review

The Thule 854 Water Slide Kayak Carrier Accessory Mat is a useful accessory for kayakers and SUP users. It protects the car from scratches or dents while also making it easier to guide and slide the kayak or SUP onto the roof rack. The 0.75" thick mat can be attached to the factory installed crossbars or Thule Load Bar and has Velcro straps to hold it in place. While some customers have reported issues with the straps coming apart or the rubber layer gripping the kayak or SUP too much after prolonged use, Thule has made enhancements to the quality of the Velcro straps. Overall, this is a worthwhile investment for anyone looking for a more convenient and safe way to transport watercraft.
