  • History of the War of Independence by Halil İnalcık, one of the undisputed greatest names in the world in the field of history. In order to understand the history of the revolution as a whole, II. in 1908. Stating that it should start with the declaration of the Constitutional Monarchy, İnalcık first discusses the main developments between 1908-1918 from a bird's eye perspective. In this context, it examines the development of Ottoman and Turkism movements to save the empire, the power process of the Committee of Union and Progress, the developments in World War I and the stages leading to the occupation of the country at the end of the war. The process that started with the occupation of Izmir and Mustafa Kemal's transition to Anatolia constitutes the focus of the Turkish War of Independence. In this context, İnalcık states that the struggle that started with the Erzurum and Sivas congresses for the dominance of the national will gained momentum with the opening of the Turkish Grand National Assembly in Ankara on April 23, 1920, and then the Turkish army led by Mustafa Kemal in Eastern, Southeastern and Western Anatolia. It reveals that it resulted in the abolition of the sultanate with the successes achieved. It shows that the Ankara Government, which achieved a successful result from the İnönü Battles, the Battle of Sakarya and the Great Offensive, registered its political existence to the world public with the Treaty of Lausanne signed on July 24, 1923. History of the War of Independence is a detailed explanation of the stages of the domination of the national will between 1908-1923, written by Halil İnalcık, and the effective leadership of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk at these stages.
